As His (Jesus’) love for His Father was the source of obedience, and the motivation of His faithfulness to the work that had been committed to Him, so He declares that the love of His followers, imitating His love for them, was to be the source of their obedience. Further, through their obedience, would come all the good that can come to human beings, including their love for one another.
